Our Brownies

1 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup cocoa
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat.
Stir in cocoa.
Blend until smooth.
Add sugar, vanilla, salt, eggs.
Beat until thoroughly combined
Add flour and baking powder
Mix well
Stir in nuts
Spread in well greased 9 X 13 pan
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until tests done
Cool and cut in squares
